EDC elects new officers

SARASOTA — The Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County (EDC) elected new officers for its 2012-2013 fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, according to a news release. The newly elected officers are as follows:

Benjamin R. Hanan, Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick LLP, chairman
David Sessions, Willis A. Smith Construction Inc., immediate past chairman
Rod Hershberger, PGT Industries, vice chairman
Laura Spencer, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, secretary
Allan Barberio, Kerkering, Barberio & Co., treasurer
Mark Huey, president and CEO

The directors include:
Commissioner Suzanne Atwell, city of Sarasota
Commissioner Joseph Barbetta, Sarasota County
Commissioner David Brenner, Town of Longboat Key

The EDC is a nonprofit corporation that works with chambers of commerce, local governments and other organizations through the county and region to expand the community's economic development strategy, add high-paying jobs and diversify the local economy.
