FORT MYERS — The state will begin building a road in the fall that will connect Interstate 75 to Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

The $54 million road will include two bridges that will link the interstate with Terminal Access Road, the entrance to the airport. Crews will complete the project in spring 2015.

Northbound motorists on I-75 will merge onto the new connector road south of Alico Road and southbound motorists will merge south of Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers. The road will pass over Treeline Avenue.

The project's design-build contractor is C3TS/Prince and Metric Engineering is the project engineer.

A preconstruction meeting is scheduled 5 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport, 9931 Interstate Commerce Drive. More information is available here.
