On Nov. 9, IRISS hosted a barbecue to celebrate “topping-off” its new facility. The global headquarters is under construction at the Lakewood Ranch Commerce Center, 10306 Technology Terrace, Bradenton.

Whilst enjoying sauce-covered meat and iced tea, Starling Construction, IRISS employees, architects from Fleischman Garcia and others (including me) enjoyed a beautiful day at the construction site.

The building has a nice view of a lake and will include a gym for employees. Personally, I'm envious of the private gym, especially after the barbecue.

Why did IRISS purchase the 4.5-acre plot of land to build its $7.5 million world headquarters in Manatee County?

“It's pretty,” says CEO Martin Robinson. Of course, Robinson will have the best vantage point of the lake from his office.

Not just that, but Manatee County was supportive, with IRISS getting approval for $12,000 from the county in performance-based incentives to aid in the new hires and $48,000 from the state. Plus, the area has a lot of new housing that gives a company a good pool of employees, Robinson says.

“It's a win-win on many fronts,” he tells the Business Review.
