FORT MYERS — Spirit Airlines announced plans to fly nonstop to three new cities from Fort Myers: Boston, Dallas and Minneapolis.
Spirit also announced new service from Tampa to Chicago. It also plans to resume seasonal service from Tampa to Detroit and Fort Lauderdale.
In addition to the three new cities from Fort Myers, Spirit will resume nonstop seasonal flights from Southwest Florida International Airport to Chicago and more frequent nonstop flights to Detroit and Atlantic City.
In a statement, Spirit cited the arrival of a brutal weather in northern states for the increased flights to the Gulf Coast. “Our new flights to a variety of favorite winter getaways are the perfect cure for the cold-weather blues,” says Spirit's chief marketing officer Barry Biffle.
