TAMPA — According to rankings in U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals 2012-13 issue, Tampa General Hospital is Florida's highest-rated hospital.
This is the first year U.S. News has ranked hospitals by state, a news release explains. The magazine used the same methodology to rank hospitals within states that it uses to rank the top 50 hospitals in the nation.
Rounding out the top five hospitals in Florida were:
Florida Hospital, Orlando
Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville
South Miami Hospital, Miami
Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville
In addition, Tampa General Hospital had nine specialties ranked in the top 50 nationwide by the magazine.
U.S. News & World Report published the rankings in collaboration with RTI International, a North Carolina-based research organization. To see the complete rankings by U.S. News & World Report, click here.
