Radiation Therapy Services, the Fort Myers-based operator of radiation-treatment centers for cancer patients, is already one of the largest such operators in the U.S. with 95 centers in 15 states.
Now, the company has its eyes set on increasing its presence in Latin America, where it already operates 30 radiation centers.
In a presentation to investors at the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference in Boston recently, Radiation Therapy officials said the company is looking at fast-growing markets in Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Uruguay.
It helps that Radiation Therapy's chief executive knows his way around those countries. Daniel Dosoretz, the company's co-founder, president and CEO, was born and raised in Argentina.
Radiation Therapy has plenty of capital to grow, both in the U.S. and in Latin America. It recently raised $350 million through a bond issue and banks agreed to lend it another $140 million.
