LAKEWOOD RANCH -- With 391 home sales in 2011, Lakewood Ranch is one of the top 10 best-selling master planned communities in the U.S., according to an annual list compiled by John Burns Consulting.
Lakewood Ranch ranked ninth on the list, ahead of other nationally recognized communities such as Stapleton in Denver and Summerlin in Las Vegas, a release from the Florida community explains.
Rex Jensen, president and CEO of developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch Inc., says $150 million in new commercial construction helped boost the community's sales in 2011. “That is definitely translating into more visitors, which in turn means more sales,” Jensen says.
This is the second year John Burns Consulting has ranked the nation's top master planned communities by sales. A year ago, Lakewood Ranch ranked 13th.
