The Naples Grande Beach Resort in Naples has a new name: Waldorf Astoria Naples.
This is the hotel's third name. Prior to being named the Naples Grande, the hotel was called Registry Resort.
New York-based investment firm Blackstone acquired the Naples Grande five years ago as part of its acquisition of Hilton Hotels and kept the Naples Grande's name, though it labeled the hotel was a Waldorf Astoria Resort in its tag line.
Now, as of Jan. 1, the hotel bears the iconic New York City hotel's name and reputation, positioning it to compete head-on with the two Ritz-Carlton hotels in Naples.
