TAMPA -- Psoria-Shield raised nearly $1.5 million in capital through a private equity sale, a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission shows.

The Tampa-based medical device manufacturer sold $1.46 million in equity securities to 23 investors, the filing shows. Of that total, $510,000 worth of equity was used to pay for services associated with the placement; another $117,000 was used as compensation for the firm's two executive officers, Scot Johnson and Edwin Longo.

A year ago, Psoria-Shield raised nearly $884,000 from a sale of various securities to 14 investors.

Founded in 2009, Psoria-Shield designs and builds devices that use targeted ultraviolet light (UV) therapy to treat skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. The company's headquarters are located at 6408 W. Linebaugh Ave., in Suite 103.
