TAMPA — Trammell Crow has awarded Colliers International Tampa Bay the leasing assignment for the first hotel and office project built in downtown Tampa in more than 20 years.

Trammell Crow is developing the 20-story, 400,000-square-foot office tower and 350-room hotel called SouthGate at the southeast corner of Brorein and Morgan streets in downtown Tampa.

Besides SouthGate's proximity to Tampa's convention center and entertainment venues, the development will be adjacent to the University of South Florida's recently developed Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation. That center is expected to draw thousands of physicians and other health care professionals to the area each year.

“Tampa is ready for this 'Class A' development,” says Lee Arnold, chairman and CEO of Colliers International Tampa Bay, Central & Southwest Florida.
