SARASOTA -- A pair of interior renovations at local Target stores headline a list of new applications for commercial permits filed between Dec. 19 and Jan. 20, released by Sarasota County government this week.

Target expects to spend $900,000 to upgrade the interior of its store at 4271 S. Tamiami Trail, plus another $750,000 for its store at 8401 S. Tamiami Trail, records show.

Those two projects account for $1.65 million of the $2.65 million in construction value represented by applications to the county. Only projects with construction value of $100,000 or more are reported.

Beyond the Target renovations, four other projects were listed:

• a new 2,200-square-foot building for Goodwill Foundation at 406 N. Indiana Ave., a $500,000 project;

• a $210,000 interior and exterior renovation at the McDonald's at 325 Commercial Court;

• a new 5,200-square-foot building at 1500 DeSoto Road for H2O Gardens, a project worth $180,000; and

• an interior alteration at the Verna Wellfield Water Treatment Facility, worth $117,000.

The Sarasota County commission's next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 21.
