PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Publix Super Markets Inc. has acquired another retail center. The Lakeland grocery company purchased the 70,000-square-foot The Shoppes at Fiddlesticks neighborhood center for $13.01 million.

The price equated to $186 per square foot.

Anchored by a 43,600-square-foot Publix, the center also features a 2,625-square-foot Beef 'O'Brady's restaurant, Allstate, a dental care office, First Choice Haircutters, Papa John's Pizza, Subway and a number of other tenants. CoStar Group research suggests the center has three vacant tenant spaces with a total of 6,750 square feet available.

Calls to Publix for comment were not returned prior to deadline. Earlier this year, Shannon Patten, media and community relations manager for Publix, said the grocer owns 20% of the shopping centers in which it operates.

Publix Super Markets has 1,066 supermarkets in five states.
