Eight of the 20 most active master-planned Florida communities in the second quarter were located on the Gulf Coast, according to a tally by market tracker Metrostudy.
The most active community on the Gulf Coast in the second quarter was Fishhawk Ranch in Hillsborough County with 261 annual housing starts. Fishhawk ranked fourth in the state.
Lakewood Ranch in Manatee County ranked fifth in the state and second on the Gulf Coast with 225 annual housing starts, according to Metrostudy.
Other Gulf Coast communities ranked among Florida's top 20 most active communities in the second quarter included: Live Oak Preserve in Hillsborough (164 housing starts), Central Park in Manatee (156), Panther Trace in Hillsborough (156), VillageWalk of Bonita Springs in Lee County (139), Concord Station in Pasco County (139), and Valencia Lakes in Hillsborough (139).
The most active master-planned community in the state in the second quarter was The Villages, a sprawling retirement community in Sumter County near Ocala, with 2,607 annual housing starts. Metrostudy reports The Villages is the top-selling master-planned community in the nation.
