BONITA SPRINGS — Canadian residential developer Minto Communities continues to acquire land on the Gulf Coast with the purchase of 85 acres in Bonita Springs for $4.25 million.

This deal, which Fort Myers-based Land Solutions brokered and announced, is the latest in a string of purchases by Minto. The company recently announced it plans to buy 2,300 acres in Naples and it acquired 142 lots in the TwinEagles residential community in north Naples in June.

The 85-acre parcel at 25701 Old U.S. 41 Road in Bonita Springs will have 220 homes priced from the low $200,000 range to more than $300,000. The community will be called Bonita Isles, says Michael Belmont, Minto's Florida president.

“It's a real nice infill community that hasn't seen new-home construction in a while,” says Belmont.

Minto has been building in Florida for more than 34 years, principally on the east coast. The company expanded to the Gulf Coast of the state in 2008 with the acquisition of the remaining lots at Sun City Center and Harbor Isle in Bradenton.
