CAPTIVA — Edison National Bank will open an office in Captiva, expanding the presence of its Bank of the Islands brand to a second location.

The Fort Myers-based bank is moving in next door to the Captiva Post Office, into a space that has been vacant since Wachovia/Wells Fargo closed its branch there earlier this year.

Edison currently operates three branches in Southwest Florida, with two offices in Fort Myers and one in Sanibel. The new Captiva location will be its fourth. Edison's banking operations outside of Fort Myers are conducted under the Bank of the Islands brand name.

The new Captiva office could open as early as January, says bank Vice President Rob Lisenbee.

Robbie and Geoff Roepstorff lead Edison National Bank as president and CEO, respectively. The Florida Bankers Association named the two Bankers of the Year in June 2010. Edison National Bank was featured in a September 2010 issue of the Gulf Coast Business Review (see “Edison Lights,” Sept. 10, 2010).
