BONITA SPRINGS -- VR Laboratories LLC selected former Florida Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp as its CEO this week.

VR Laboratories is a young company is working to formulate and produce FDA-approved botanical pharmaceuticals and consumer products. In February, Lee County commissioners approved $5 million in financial incentives to attract VR Laboratories to its current headquarters at the Beachway Office Complex.

At that time, VR said it would create 208 new jobs over the next five years, paying an average annual wage of $66,850.

VR points to two key moments in Kottkamp's tenure as lieutenant governor that make him a good fit for his new role: his leading a delegation of Florida businesses at the MEDICA World Forum for Medicine in Germany to grow Florida's bio-tech economy, and his role in attracting the Max Planck Research Institute to Florida.

“His legal expertise as a top ranking attorney and his roots in Southwest Florida further strengthen VR Laboratories and its position in a growing and competitive industry,” adds Robert Gow, chairman at HerbalScience, one of VR's licensing partners.
