Willis A Smith Construction Inc. is gearing up to start the demolition of half of the existing County Technical Institute campus to start the third phase of its redevelopment.

The first phase of the new campus development, the Suncoast Polytechnical High School, opened in 2008. In March, the general contractor completed the campus' second phase, a $39 million building with classroom space, a restaurant for the culinary arts program, a salon and a television studio.

Demolition is scheduled to start this month. Once that work is completed completed Willis A Smith Construction will be ready to start construction on three separate buildings with a total of 160,000 square feet of space.

One of the three buildings is designated for adult and community education, the second will be for adult general education and the third will be used for industrial arts with facilities for auto and marine service, HVAC and plumbing and mechanical drafting.

SchenkelShultz Architecture of '¨Orlando designed the project.
