FORT MYERS -- Ironstone Bank completed its merger with First Citizens Bank this week. All 58 Ironstone branches, located in 12 states, have been rebranded.

Prior to Ironstone's merger with First Citizens in January, the two banks operated as separate subsidiaries of First Citizens Bancshares Inc. But as of this week, former Ironstone customers will be doing business with an institution operating under a different name.

First Citizens Bancshares says the completed merger will result in “increased efficiencies and elimination of duplicative operations.”

With its headquarters in Raleigh, N.C., the new First Citizens Bank now operates a network of 444 branches in 18 states. Seven First Citizens branches are located in Southwest Florida, with three offices in Naples, two in Fort Myers, and one each in Cape Coral and Bonita Springs.
