FORT MYERS -- The Southwest Florida Community Foundation board of trustees named Sarah Owen the organization's newest CEO this week.

The Foundation has provided $49 million in grants and scholarships to communities in Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry and Collier counties since 1976. The nonprofit group currently manages more than $60 million in assets, a release says.

Owen comes to the foundation from Community Cooperative Ministries Inc., another Southwest Florida nonprofit, where she also served as CEO. She will begin working in her new capacity by the end of October.
