PUNTA GORDA -- Troy, Mich.-based X-Ray Industries Inc. is set to acquire Arcadia Aerospace Industries LLC, a Punta Gorda firm.

Arcadia builds inspection systems used to test the integrity of recently constructed aircraft. Following the acquisition, the company will not be moved, but instead have its capacity tripled, according to a release from the company.

X-Ray, a similarly focused aircraft inspections firm with a 70-year business history, says it will invest $1.5 million in Arcadia's Punta Gorda manufacturing facility over the next eight months. The expanded capacity will require between 10 and 12 new hires, X-Ray says.

"X-Ray Industries is the growth partner we have needed to leverage our leadership position in composite inspection,” says Charles Bushman, president at Arcadia. “This is a partnership that will allow us to fulfill our dream of building a significant aerospace manufacturing presence at Charlotte County Regional Airport where we intend to stay and grow."

Arcadia Aerospace Industries LLC was featured in a 2008 issue of the Business Review (see “Composite Deposit,” July 14, 2008).
