TAMPA -- Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT, a real estate investment operation based in Tampa, will begin paying investors a 7% distribution, a release says.

Carter Validus is run by John Carter, vice chairman and principal at Carter & Associates, a commercial real estate firm with 400 associates. Carter is also on the board of directors at GulfShore Bank, a Tampa-based institution founded in 2007.

As of Sept. 30, Carter Validus reported $41 million in assets through a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, including $30.5 million in net real estate holdings. In July, the company acquired a 20,000-square-foot data center in Richardson, Texas, for $28.6 million.
