IMMOKALEE — Bill Lipman, cofounder of Immokalee-based tomato grower Six L's Packing Company Inc., died yesterday. He was 88. He was the last of the original “Six L's” for which the company was named.

“His leadership in sales and administration set a tone of excellence that we continue to strive for,” says Six L's CEO Kent Shoemaker in a company statement.

The company he helped create is now the largest field tomato grower in North America.
