The merger between CPA Associates LLC, a Bradenton-based accounting business, and Atlanta-based Mauldin & Jenkins LLC was completed this week. CPA continues to employ 45 workers in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. The deal was announced in January; additional details are available below.

From Jan. 5:

BRADENTON — CPA Associates LLC, a Bradenton-based accounting business, will merge with Mauldin & Jenkins LLC, an Atlanta firm. Concurrently, Mauldin will also assume the business of Evers & Fox PC, another Atlanta-based accountancy.

After both companies are absorbed, the new Mauldin & Jenkins will bring in $41 million in annual net fees (revenues), and will employ a staff of roughly 240 people, with 43 partners.

CPA Associates operated with roughly 45 employees, including partners, at the time of the transaction. All of the firm's partners will remain with the company after the merger, according to Mauldin's press statement. Jerry Marlar, current managing partner for CPA Associates, will become partner in charge for the new operation.

Mauldin will also send some of its own employees to Bradenton in early 2011. Those employees will specialize in government, not-for-profit, health care, and banking areas, the firm said. Prior to the merger, CPA Associates specialized in government, litigation support, business valuation, and banking services.

The merger is expected to be completed by June 1.
