FORT MYERS — Carmax Auto Superstore bought a 16.73-acre parcel of land on the southeast corner of Colonial Boulevard and Metro Parkway for $4.1 million.

However, there is no guarantee that Carmax will build a dealership on the recently purchased land, a company spokesperson told the Business Review.

Currently, Carmax has laid out a schedule for new store construction that extends into February 2012. Four new stores are planned nationwide, but none are to be built in Florida.

Once construction begins, it can take two to three years for a store to open, Carmax told the Business Review.
