When Connie Mack officially declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Florida Democrat Bill Nelson, he didn't do it in his hometown of Fort Myers.

To the grumbling of some back home, Mack chose to formally announce his candidacy on the Sean Hannity political pundit show on Fox News.

Of course, this was no surprise since aides confirmed news of his candidacy weeks prior. Still, he had teased the locals earlier this year when he convened a news conference in downtown Fort Myers, only to announce then to a disappointed crowd that he wasn't running.

But he apparently changed his mind, though he chose an out-of-town setting to make the recent announcement. Polls now show Mack running an even race with Nelson, should Mack win the Republican primary.
