Three Sarasotans join 12th JNC

SARASOTA — Gov. Rick Scott appointed three legal professionals from Sarasota to the 12th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission on Tuesday.

Nancy Cason is managing partner at Syprett Meshad Law Firm. A real estate specialist, Cason is a member of the board of directors of the Sarasota County Bar Association, and does volunteer work for the 12th Circuit as a pro bono foreclosure defense attorney.

Ronald Filipkowski, a self-employed attorney, served previously as an assistant U.S. attorney. He is also a former assistant director of the Sarasota Police Academy.

Kathi Halvorsen, also a self-employed lawyer, specializes in Social Security and marital law. Halvorsen has already served a term on the nominating commission.

Henry Lutz, a resident of Holmes Beach, and Anthony Rolfes of Osprey will also serve on the committee.
