FORT MYERS — Kerrin Gillespie, chief financial officer at Radiation Therapy Services Holdings Inc., is leaving the company to join Naples-based Health Management Associates Inc.
Radiation Therapy is a Fort Myers-based company that operates radiation treatment centers across the world, under the name 21st Century Oncology. The firm operates 91 centers in the U.S., 26 others in Latin America, and one in India.
Gillespie's resignation is effective May 16. On May 17, current Radiation Therapy board member Bryan Carey will take over as interim CFO until a successor is identified.
Earlier this year, Gillespie helped Radiation Therapy complete its acquisition of Medical Developers for $80 million; that deal gave Radiation Therapy its Latin American operations. In January, Gillespie assisted with a $50 million debt issuance.
Radiation Therapy earned $544 million in revenues in 2010. But an impairment charge of $98 million on its financial statement prevented the company from being profitable.
This is a return to HMA for Gillespie, who held financial and operating positions with the company prior to 1998.
