FORT MYERS — Rib City, the Fort Myers-based barbecue restaurant chain, will open a new location in Estero this year, its first entry into that market.
The company has purchased a 4,285-square-foot building at 10431 Corkscrew Commons, formerly occupied by Arizona Pissa, according to Rib City president Craig Peden. The newly purchased property also features an outdoor patio area.
The newest addition will give Rib City 13 corporate owned locations in Florida, in addition to the 16 franchise restaurants it operates in other states across the country.
Rib City has been in business since 1989, and today has more than 800 employees. The last time the company disclosed its revenue total to the Business Review was in 2006, when it earned $25 million.
Last October, Peden told the Business Review was looking to open franchise locations in other countries (see “Down to the Bone,” Oct. 8 issue).
