NAPLES — Arthrex Inc. will begin construction on a new 160,000-square-foot facility on Oil Well Road, near Ave Maria, this year. Once completed, the Naples-based biomedical company will hire 150 new employees to conduct operations within its new building, Arthrex' Scott Price told the Business Review.

Additionally, the company plans to hire “hundreds more” employees for this particular facility over the next several years, Price said.

Arthrex hired its 1,000th local employee this year, and expects to generate $1 billion in revenues. Both the company and its president, Reinhold Schmieding, have received numerous accolades from the Business Review over the past few years. In 2008, Schmieding was named the Lee/Collier region's Entrepreneur of the Year; in 2010, Arthrex was named one of the Gulf Coast's Best Managed Companies; and in 2011, Schmieding was named to the Business Review's inaugural “Power 50” list.
