TAMPA — Former Florida CFO Alex Sink has joined Hyde Park Capital as a senior advisor, a release issued by the company this morning explained.

Hyde Park Capital has been involved in some of the Gulf Coast's largest financial deals through the early part of 2011. Late last month, the company acted as financial adviser to Technology Research Corp. when TRC was purchased by Coleman Cable Inc. for $51.5 million in cash.

In late February, Hyde Park Capital helped Oldsmar-based Vology Data Systems raise $32.5 million in additional capital. Barry Shevlin, CEO at Vology, won the Business Review's Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008 (the company was then known as Network Liquidators).

Hyde Park Capital is also advising Clearwater-based Nicholas Financial Inc., a growing business that received an unsolicited indication of interest from a potential buyer in January.

The financial advisory industry is a natural fit for Sink, who served as the head of Bank of America's Florida operations before being elected as the state's chief financial officer. While with BOA, the bank's Florida deposits grew from $13.7 billion to $43 billion in six years.

The move will bring Sink's professional life a step closer to her personal one; her husband, Bill McBride, is chairman of the company's advisory board.
