Three combine, form Advantica

CLEARWATER — Essex Dental Benefits, Advantica Eyecare, and Bridgeport Dental Services have merged into one firm, called Advantica. The combined company will have $100 million in annual revenues.

Sheldon Cohen, founder and former president at Essex, will lead the new firm as CEO. Richard Sanchez, the founder and former president of Advantica Eyecare, will be president. Sanchez will be based in Clearwater, while Cohen will work from St. Louis.

Advantica's 145 employees will be spread throughout the country, including regional offices in Baltimore, St. Louis, and Clearwater, as well as satellite locations in Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Cleveland, and San Antonio.

The company will serve more than 2.5 million members, with a network of 16,000 eye care providers and 117,000 dental health locations.
