Ted and Georgia Nicholoudis are working to give their restaurant property at 1737 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, a little more breathing room.

The Nicholoudises, who have already leased the former Longevity Cafe, received approval from the Sarasota City Commission to rezone a vacant home the couple owns next door.

They are planning to remove the building and use the space as additional parking for their new tenant: Square One Burgers and Bar.

The restaurant property currently has 49 parking spaces, but the couple expects that with the residential property gone they could add another 39 spaces. The property is at 2043 Arlington St.

Square One Burgers and Bar is scheduled to open on Oct. 19.

The restaurant is part of a growing operation. The South Tamiami Trail location will be the second restaurant, behind one in Tampa. A third restaurant will open on University Parkway in December.
