La Segunda Central Bakery in Ybor City has been turning out loaves of fresh Cuban bread for nearly a century. Now it has secured a domain for its popular product in cyberspace.

The bakery has obtained the website CubanBread.com to promote its wholesale distribution to restaurants as well as explain the local staple to interested Internet surfers around the world. The domain is secured through GoDaddy, a domain registration service.

The site includes historic photographs, information on the baking process for Cuban bread and pastries, downloadable menus and other items geared toward luring carb-lovers to its walk-in cafe — just about everything but the smell. La Segunda is located at 2512 N. 15th St., and its classic neon sign is visible to Interstate 4 motorists.

Operated by the More family for four generations, La Segunda is a supplier to popular Gulf Coast chains such as The Columbia Restaurant and Beef 'O' Brady's. The owners are working with Tampa-based advertising agency Schifino Lee to refresh its brand.
