In the Sarasota-Bradenton area, 567 new single-family housing units were started in the third quarter, up 72% from last year. It was the region's highest number of starts since the third quarter of 2008.
During the same time period, single-family closings totaled 545 units. As a result, inventory at the end of the quarter stood at 1,629 units, down 2.1% over the year. That total represents a 10.5-month supply, according to Metrostudy.
Through the first nine months of the year, the Sarasota-Bradenton market saw 7,791 single family home sales, up 20% from a year ago.
