Superior Uniform Group Inc., a Seminole-based uniform and apparel provider, generated $27.3 million in net sales in the third quarter of 2010. Those sales led to a profit of roughly $1.4 million for the three-month period.

Superior earned $1.3 million in net income on $27.6 million in net sales in last year's third quarter. That means this year's results are representative of a 9.2% gain in profits, despite a 1.1% drop in sales activity.

The slight drop in sales did not faze Superior CEO Michael Benstock. “While net sales were down slightly in the current quarter compared to the prior year quarter,” Benstock explained in a release, “it was the highest quarter in net sales for the last year.”

Superior Uniform Group Inc. (symbol: SGC) has been in business since 1920. The company earned $2.9 million in net income over the first nine months of 2010, nearly double the $1.5 million earned over the same time a year ago.
