Urfer opens dealership, plans building on U.S. 301

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Jack Urfer is opening a dealership for super-sized vehicles. The Sarasota auto dealership magnate purchased 12.7 acre along U.S 301 south of Whitfield Avenue for the dealership and service operations of Centec Equipment LLC, a used medium- to heavy-duty equipment vehicle dealership he created.
Urfer hopes to break ground in a month on a 24,000-square-foot building housing the new dealership's administrative, sales and finance offices and service facilities with 12 bays. The property will also features 9.5 acres of parking for the vehicles facing U.S. 301. The dealership is slated to open in early to mid-summer.
The dealership will sell to customers throughout North and South America.
Similar to a more typical used car lot; all the vehicles will be inspected and reconditioned prior to sale.
The operations director for the new dealership is Guerin Johnson, former general manager of Urfer's BMW dealership. Urfer sold the BMW dealership in early 2008.
Johnson expects the dealership to carry more than 200 pre-owned vehicles, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, wood chippers, pole trailers and more.
