IBM has been named a key partner in the development of a new, cutting-edge city to be located in Charlotte County.

Babcock Ranch, a Kitson & Partners project, is being marketed as Florida's first fully sustainable city, and IBM technology will be key in the realization of that goal.

Developers say the 17,000-acre region will use less power, allowing it to operate solely on zero emission solar power, and that residents will enjoy citywide wireless internet integration.

When finished, the city will offer 6 million square feet of retail, commercial, office, civic, and light industrial space, according to a release.

Kitson & Partners is a Palm Beach Gardens-based company, led by CEO Syd Kitson.
