PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Discovery Development Inc. purchased slightly less than two acres for $700,000.
The vacant land is located on Vail Ridge Drive north of Big Bend Road.
Discovery Development Inc. is the Duluth, Ga.-based franchisor of Discovery Point Child Development Centers. The company has already started constructing a 10,000-square-foot child-care facility and three playgrounds on the site. Completion is scheduled for January. The new center will be licensed to handle 225 children.
Once the facility is built, Discovery Point franchisees Maryann Di Leo and Peggy Ballwegg, who already own the Discovery Point Symmes in Riverview, will purchase the second facility and operate it.
Atlanta-based Venture Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project.
Discovery Point centers provide care for children from six weeks to 12 years old.
