Despite the efforts of a Naples-based group of investors, the Chicago Cubs baseball franchise will not move its spring training operations to Florida, the Arizona Republic newspaper is reporting.
The Naples group had asked for an opportunity to negotiate exclusively, and was rebuffed by Cubs officials. As a result, the investors have rescinded their original offer to the team.
At the same time, the word choice of Craig Bouchard, a member of the Naples-based group, leaves the door open for future discussion, if only just slightly: “For the time being, we have withdrawn our offer,” he told the Republic.
