If you follow the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce on Twitter, you may have noticed the tweet posted by the organization last week:
How to start a small business in #Tampa. And then a link to a page on the City of Tampa's website, claiming that, “starting a small business in Tampa is as easy as 1-2-3.”
The listed steps are:
• Register the name of your business.
• Obtain your City of Tampa Business Tax license and your Hillsborough County Occupational License.
• File for Sales Tax Collection with the State of Florida if your business qualifies.
Perhaps this is useful to an entrepreneur — although there is a tad more involved in starting a business.
But Coffee Talk can't help but notice all this “helpfulness” involves government getting taxes. It rather seems more like: “Easy as 1-2-3, taxes flow from you to me!”
