November home sales down 15%

Statewide sales of existing single-family homes fell 15% in November compared to the same month a year ago, while condominium sales increased 11%.

The median home price was down, but only slightly, decreasing by 0.5%. The median condo sale price fell 16%, according to Florida Realtors.

Tampa Bay home sales decreased 10% by volume over the year, with 2,060 homes sold in November. The median sale price also fell 10%, down to $125,000. Condo sales were up 5% by volume, with 695 units sold. The median sale price for condos fell 19%, to $85,100.

In Fort Myers-Cape Coral, home sales fell 33% by volume over the year, down to 1,022 from 1,530 in November 2009. The median home price fell 6% to $89,800. The number of condos sold dropped 13%, from 299 to 260, and the median sale price decreased by 5%, to $107,400.

Sarasota-Bradenton home sales fell 11% by volume, with 699 sold, and the median price dropped 7% to $149,300. Condo sales increased 5%, to 252 units sold, while the median price fell 7% to $130,500.
