The National Collegiate Athletic Association's board of directors elected Judy Genshaft, president of the University of South Florida, its newest chairwoman.
Genshaft has been president at USF since 2000. Previously, she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University at Albany, after a 16-year administrative career at Ohio State University.
“From an athletics standpoint, we cannot overstate the magnitude of this honor for President Genshaft,” said Doug Woolard, athletic director at USF. “This is a personal and professional accomplishment for the president, and a point of pride for the entire USF community.”
Genshaft will lead the 18-member board until April 2012.
