Boca Raton-based Publix developer Halvorsen Holdings purchased 20 acres at the corner of Bayshore and Slater roads in North Fort Myers to develop a Publix-anchored shopping center.

The center will be anchored by a 46,500-square-foot Publix and will include an additional 23,760 square feet of other retail space.

The shopping center will be the first phase of a 70-acre mixed-use project, which will ultimately include a 175-lot residential subdivision. The subdivision development is slated to start in 2012 or 2013, while the shopping center is scheduled to break ground in October.

The center will also include four outparcel sites. Halvorsen Development will handle leasing the center and selling the outparcels.
