Hope Hospice buys Cape Coral land

BUYER: Hope Hospice and Community Services Inc. (principals: Samira Beckwith, Jill Lampley, Dick Ackert, Steve Personette, Charles Idelson and Alexander Robinson), Fort Myers

SELLER: OB Savona LLC

PROPERTY: a portion of 1810 Savona Parkway W., Cape Coral

PRICE: $1.5 million

PREVIOUS PRICE: $6 million (includes multiple parcels), March 2005

LAW FIRM ON DEED: Roetzel & Andress LPA, Fort Myers

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Hope Hospice and Community Services Inc. of Fort Myers purchased 10 acres on Savona Parkway near Agualinda Boulevard for $1.5 million.

The not-for-profit community-based health care agency has no immediate plans for the property, but it eventually expects to develop a hospice facility on the property.

“We care for a number of people from the South Cape every year that travel to our other hospice houses,” says Samira Beckwith, president of Hope Hospice and Community Services. “We felt that now was a good time to buy the property so that when it's time to build we had a good location. It was definitely a long-term purchase, though. As an organization, we are on a 10-year plan.”

The property was particularly desirable to hospice, according to Beckwith, because of its large size, layout and the surrounding residential neighborhood with nearby healthcare providers and a high school.

“There was a time there four or five years ago when we where thinking of building there, but prices got so high we thought we would never be able to do this,” she says.
