Taking a cut out of the recession

One of Sarasota's trendiest hair salons is trying to clip some of the recession-induced pain for those seeking a haircut — a real one of the follicle sort, not the financial kind.

The salon, Yellow Strawberry, is offering a discount of up to 50% on a cut, color or other service based on a client's documented financial loss in 2008. Just bring in your 2008 W2 forms or 401(k) statements showing just how deep your loss was last year to receive the discount.

Yellow Strawberry founder Richard Weintraub came up with the idea for the price cut after seeing various news accounts of so-called government stimulus packages. “No one is exempt from” the recession, Weintraub tells Coffee Talk. “We feel their pain.”

The discount only applies to new customers. For more information on the coupon, or to download a copy of it, go to the salon's Web site, www.yellowstrawberryhair.com.
