Lawyers Celebrate the Holidays
Attorneys, judges and guests recently packed the main lobby of the Tampa City Center for the Hillsborough County Bar Associationis annual holiday party.
About 400 people attended the festive event to celebrate the associationis many successes this year, says association President William J. Schifino.
iThe crown jewel was the fact the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation secured a donation for the naming rights on what shortly will be our new office building next to the new Stetson (University) law school in Tampa,i says Schifino, president of Tampais Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady PA.
The family of the late Chester H. Ferguson, a former partner at Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen PA and an influential force in the development of downtown Tampa, contributed $1.5 million to the building fund. Members recently honored his wife, Louise, and other family members. The new building will be known as the Chester H. Ferguson Law Center.
Thatis just the first step, Schifino adds. iWe hope to finish off the capital campaign and raise the additional $2 million needed to finish off raising the money for the building,i he says. iHopefully, weill have some very good news to announce in January.i
