BRANDON —Rasmussen University is scheduled to open it new Tampa campus Tuesday July 6.
The private, for-profit school moved to its new 44,000-square-foot campus after its lease ran out at its previous location, according to a spokeswoman.
She says the new campus at Brandon Town Center is about five miles from the school’s previous site.
The new facility, according to a statement, includes larger classrooms, a high-tech simulation center and new health sciences and nursing labs along with expanded offices, a lounge and study spaces.
Jamie Sperling, director of the Tampa/Brandon campus, says in the statement that one reason for the move is rapid growth. “Our nursing student population alone has grown nearly 240 percent over the past five years.”
This is the second new location for the school this year.
In February Rasmussen combined its New Port Richey/West Pasco and Land O’ Lakes/East Pasco campuses into a single Pasco County location on State Road 54 in Odessa.
Rasmussen began in 1900 as the Rasmussen Practical School of Business in Stillwater, Minnesota. By 1945, it was known as Rasmussen College, a name it kept until October when it became Rasmussen University.
It offers dozens of associate, bachelor and master degrees online and in person across a range of topics including business, education and design.
