SARASOTA - Healthcare services and information technology company McKesson Corp. has acquired Sarasota-based peerVue Inc.

The acquisition was designed around extending McKesson's portfolio of imaging and information management systems. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Sarasota firm specializes in technology that helps store, transfer, track and process information for the health care field. This includes functions such as improving communication between departments in a hospital, and logging and sharing medical information, such as lab results and test images.

“Improving workflow is not only the key to higher-quality, safer patient care,” Kevan Torgerson, president of the Enterprise Medical Imaging group for McKesson says in a news release. “It's also the key to improving efficiency and productivity for a better financial result.”

According to its website, PeerVue has more than 25 employees and has sold its information systems to more than 250 sites.
