VENICE — Bob Moore, with more than 30 years of executive hospital leadership experience, has been named CEO of Venice Regional Bayfront Health.

Moore is the third top executive at the hospital since 2015, when state regulators began to investigate the facility for not properly cleaning up after a sewage spill. Moore replaces John McLain, who had been CEO since February 2016. McLain had replaced Peter Wozniak, who resigned as CEO in July 2015. The 312-bed hospital also had an interim CEO, Jeff Reece, after Wozniak's resignation.

Moore has been CEO for Munroe Regional Medical Center, a 421-bed hospital in Ocala, for the past three years, according to a statement. He will join Venice regional in late July.

“Venice Regional Bayfront Health plays a critical role, and I am committed to working with physicians, employees, volunteers and the Venice community to continue to serve patients with high quality, compassionate care,” Moore says in the release. “I am honored to support this work and serve the patients who entrust their care to us.”

During his tenure in Ocala, Moore oversaw an emergency room expansion; development of a 12-bed Level II NICU; and expansion of women's healthcare services. Moore also led capital investments to expand and introduce new services, including expansion of robotic and minimally invasive surgery technologies.

“Bob's deep healthcare expertise and dedication to serving the unique needs our community, as well as community involvement will benefit our hospital, patients and the community,” says Venice Regional Bayfront board Chairwoman Lynn Joyner. “On behalf of the entire board, we look forward to working with him to continue strengthening our care and services.”

Franklin, Tenn.-based hospital giant Community Health Systems owns Venice Regional Bayfront Health, which is part of a network of seven hospitals in Florida. Community Health Systems also owns Munroe Regional Medical Center.
