Venice company finds
new niche in Sarasota
Welcome Connection, a new subsidiary to Baskets Gifts and Beyond of Venice will use decorative gourmet baskets, along with incentives and information from local merchants to introduce new homeowners to the Sarasota area. New homeowners will receive a complimentary basket within weeks of moving into their new home, ensuring that local businesses reach them at the right time. A launch date of early 2005 is set.
Grapevine communications
donates new Web site to G.WIZ
Grapevine donated the redesign and production of more than 40 Web pages to G.WIZ, the hands-on science museum. Grapevine supports the Sarasota community by doing pro-bono work for a number of the areais non-profit organizations, including the YMCA Foundation, Girls Inc., The Young Professionals Group, Florida Winefest, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Sarasota Ballet of Florida. Grapevine, which supports five charities annually, averages more than $100,000 in pro-bono work each year.
PETCO to open its
first Sarasota store
PETCO Animal Supplies Inc. announced plans for its first Sarasota store, a 11,946-square-foot facility at Tamiami Trail and Bee Ridge Road in the Paradise Plaza Shopping Center. The store will open in the spring.
It will feature a iThink Adoption Firsti resource center to encourage PETCO customers to consider adoption prior to the purchase of any companion animal, including birds, reptiles, or small animals offered by PETCO stores.
Future real estate brokers
offered online course
Future brokers can now obtain their Florida real estate brokers license by completing a course online. Since 1923, when the brokers licensing law went into effect, applicants were required to complete their pre-license course in person at an approved Florida Real Estate School.
In February, FloridaRealEstateSchool.com was the first school to enroll a student in the online pre-license Florida real estate sales associate course, according to a press release. The course satisfies the educational prerequisite to sit for the Florida Brokers Exam.

Nuevo Punto Advertising Group changed its name to Nuevo Advertising Group due to the overwhelming response to the companyis mission of helping U.S. businesses connect with the Hispanic market. The same services are offered by Nuevo Advertising Group, and the company will launch an online portal to provide the Tampa Bay area Hispanic community with information about local events, news, book and movie reviews, etc.
